LSG vs MI, IPL 2022 Highlights: Rahul century, LSG bowlers send MI hurtling to eighth consecutive defeat

Mumbai Indians simply can't get a win and they didn't look particularly close to getting one in this match except for in a few moments here and there. LSG's batting maybe a concern but their bowling and fielding was absolutely spot-on today. They jump up to fourth place. 

“Thank god I got his wicket because he got mine and he would eat my brain less,” says Krunal Pandya with a smile on his face.  

8th consecutive defeat for five-time champions Mumbai Indians. Krunal Pandya lets out a roar, wonder how happy MI fans will be to see that from their former player. MI have been completely outplayed here and it all ended in a bit of a farce in the last over. Rahul may have not got too much assistance from his batters but his bowlers and the fielding has been on the money tonight. 

They are falling in a heap now. Jaydev Unadkat is run out as he goes for a single for which his partner Daniel Sams was not interested. Sams himself then holes out in the deep off the very next ball. MI are crumbling. 

Krunal plants a kiss on Pollard's head as he walks off. Pollard had given up he just went for the lofted shot with no hopes, Deepak Hooda takes the catch at long on. Pollard didn't seem to happy with Krunal's shenanigans, MI are sinking to their eighth consecutive defeat here. 

And that is well and truly the game. MI now need 39 runs in the last over to win the match so this will be nothing more than a formality now, unless there are a bunch of no balls and around six sixes. Krunal Pandya to bowl the last over. 

Holder not giving anything away and Tilak finally tries to produce some runs. Full toss outside off, Varma holes out at deep midwicket. That is a decisive blow from LSG.

Flattest of sixes from Pollard off Mohsin. Short delivery around off, Pollard just swivels and sends it screaming over square leg. MI 117/4 off 16.2 overs, need 52 to win off 22 balls

Holder keeps Pollard silent after getting hit for those two fours so he concedes just 12 runs in that 16th over. MI need 59 to win off 24 balls. 

Tilak Varma races to 31 off 19 and there needs to be more of these to pull MI back into this chase. He takes some pressure off Pollard at the other end. The big West Indian comes on strike off the third ball of the over to face his former West Indies team mate Jason Holder. 

71 needed to win at a run rate of 14.20. MI need to get a move on, to say the least. It has to be this partnership as well and so quite a tricky situation.   

A much needed big hit, Tilak Varma goes for a big mow down the ground off Bishnoi and he gets all of it. The required rate has crept up over 13 and so MI desperately need more of this. 

Tilak Varma and Kieron Pollard in the middle and MI now need 95 to win off 45 and their required rate has crept up over 12.5. It is slowly slipping away from Mumbai yet again. 

Surya looking to whip this one towards the leg side, gets an edge and the ball loops towards extra cover. Rahul comes running in and dives forward to take a good catch. MI in trouble now.

Bishnoi strays towards SKY's legs and the right hander simply lofts him over the keeper for four. MI 66/3 in 11 overs. 

Krunal, the former MI boy, gets MI's talisman. Rohit goes for a slog over deep midwicket after the dot balls pile up. It loops straight up and and settles into the hands of the fielder at short third man. LSG well and truly in front now but MI still have the in-form Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav in the middle.

Brevis tries an upper cut but ends up edging it to third man so that ends the young South African's brief stay in the middle. The first time out of the innings is also called.

One of the most bizarre dismissals you would ever see has brought Kishan's troubled innings to an end. Wide outside off from Bishnoi, Kishan stretches for it and it takes the bottom edge. The ball absolutely smashes into De Kock's boot as the replays show, without taking the ground at all and then loops up to Jason Holder. But that is not where Kishan's bad luck ends, Holder seems to almost drop it first time before completing the catch. It has been a troubled stay in the middle for Ishan and it ends in a rather ugly sequence of events.

Quite strange this. MI batters getting some drinks and despite the fact that both are not looking too out of sorts. The time out might be taken within or after this over so wonder how the umpires are allowing this. 

Rohit Sharma has raced to 31 off 19 balls while Ishan Kishan is struggling at six off 17. MI need need 126 to win off 84 balls. Rohit has looked in very good touch and has made this a good start despite Ishan finding it difficult to get any sort of runs at the other end. 

Gets down the ground to Holder and sends him over deep square leg. Rohit, unlike Kohli, has not really looked out of form, just that he has not been able to stay in the middle for long. He seems to be batting on a different pitch to Ishan Kishan at the moment. 

And at the other end, Rohit is finding the empty areas in the field with ease. Just lovely timing from the MI and India captain as he lifts Krunal over extra cover for his fourth boundary. 

He is stuck on three runs for almost five deliveries before he finally gets off strike and that takes him to four off 15. Another single after that to take him to five off 16. Not looking good at the moment for the young wicketkeeper-batter. 

Smashes Chameera down the ground and Rohit is now on 13 off 7. He has looked good so far, unlike his partner who has absorbed almost twice the number of balls as Rohit and has just three runs to show for it. 

He has scored just three runs in 12 deliveries, which has happened quite a few times to him this season. Rohit, on the other hand, is on 9 off 6.
